Rsync can also be run as a daemon, in which case the following options are accepted:

–daemon	run as an rsync daemon
–address=ADDRESS	bind to the specified address
–bwlimit=KBPS	limit I/O bandwidth; KBytes per second
–config=FILE	specify alternate rsyncd.conf file
–no-detach	do not detach from the parent
–port=PORT	listen on alternate port number
-v, –verbose	increase verbosity
-4, –ipv4	prefer IPv4
-6, –ipv6	prefer IPv6
-h, –help	show this help screen

Examples

rsync -t *.htm hope:public_html/

The above example would use rsync to transfer all .htm files to the public_html directory on the hope computer.

Group Policy Command-line Tools

Gpupdate

The Windows 2000’s Secedit command has been superseded by Gpupdate on XP. You can append these switches:
/target:computer or /target:user: apply only to the user or computer section of your policy. In the real world you will use Gpupdate without parameters.
/logoff: useful for settings that do not apply until the user logs on again.
/boot: use this when you want to restart the computer after making changes to a GPO.
/force: reapplies all settings.

Gpresult

I prefer the GPMC console but Gpresult is a command-line utility to display the results of a group policy. What I like most is the /user switch. Take for example when you are logged on as administrator, and wish to test a user called X. Rather than logging off then log on as that user, just type: gpresult /USER X.

Dcgpofix

This command-line utility restores the default Group Policy objects to their original state. You find this tool in the \windows\repair folder. However because the \windows folder is in the ‘Path’ you can just run Dcpgofix in a ‘Dos Box.
Syntax:
dcgpofix [/ignoreschema][/target: {domain dc both}]
For example: dcgpofix /target: docomo.
Warning!!! The tool will restore the default domain policy and also the default domain controllers policy to their state just after a fresh installation. So, when you run dcgpofix you lose all changes made to these Group Policies.
Sspecifying the /ignoreschema parameter, enables Dcgpofix to work with different versions of Active Directory. However, the default policy objects might not be restored to their original state. To ensure compatibility, use the version of Dcgpofix that is installed with your operating system.
